Your home’s safety is important, but it should not come at the cost of style. That is where invisible grills come in — a sleek, modern way to secure a balcony or window without blocking the view. In Mumbai, where most families live several floors up and every square foot of view counts, they have become the natural choice.
The grill, though, is only as good as the people who supply and install it. Two grills can look identical on day one and behave very differently after three monsoons. This guide gives you a clear checklist for choosing an invisible grill supplier in Mumbai — and explains how GaaRadha works.
Why Mumbai homes need a different standard
Mumbai is tough on any metal fixed outdoors. Salt air from the sea reaches well into the suburbs, and from June to September balconies are wet most days. High-rise towers in Powai, Worli, Goregaon and Thane also see strong wind on upper floors.
That means three things matter more here than almost anywhere else: the steel must resist corrosion, the fixing must hold against wind, and the installation must respect your society’s facade rules.
The supplier checklist
1. Ask for the exact steel grade
“Stainless steel” is not specific enough. Ask for 316 grade, which is made for marine and coastal conditions. Lower grades can show rust spots within a season or two in Mumbai’s climate. GaaRadha uses 316 marine-grade stainless steel cable for every installation.
2. Check the cable diameter and rating
A reliable supplier will tell you the cable diameter and the load it is rated for. Our standard cable is 2 mm, rated for a tensile impact of up to 400 kg.
3. Ask how the tracks will be fixed
On high floors, the top and bottom tracks should be anchored into the concrete slab and parapet — not only screwed into the railing. If your balcony has a glass railing, ask how the installer will avoid drilling into the glass.
4. Get advice on spacing, not just a price
Cable spacing should match who lives in the home. A good supplier asks about children, pets and how the balcony is used before recommending 2″, 3″ or 4″. Be wary of anyone who quotes without asking.
5. Expect a site visit before the final quote
Every balcony is different — width, height, floor level, railing type and access all change the job. A proper quote follows a measurement visit. At GaaRadha the site evaluation and quotation are free.
6. Read the quote line by line
Invisible grills are usually priced per square foot. Your quote should list the area, spacing, material grade, track finish and installation charges, so there are no surprises later. Our price guide explains what moves the cost.
7. Ask about society approval
Many Mumbai societies restrict box grills because they change the facade. Invisible grills are usually approved more easily, but it helps when the supplier can share product specifications for your committee.
8. Look at real installations and reviews
Ask for photos of completed work in buildings like yours, and read what customers say about punctuality, workmanship and hidden costs.

Red flags to watch for
- A price given over the phone with no questions about your balcony.
- Vague answers about the steel grade or “imported material” with no specification.
- Cables fixed only to a glass or thin steel railing on a high floor.
- No written quote, or extra charges that appear on installation day.
- No one to call if a cable needs re-tensioning later.

Frequently asked questions
How long does installation take?
A typical balcony or window is completed in a few hours. Several balconies in one home are usually finished in a day.
Will invisible grills rust in Mumbai’s monsoon?
Not when they are made of 316 marine-grade stainless steel, which is designed for humid, salty air.
Do I need society permission?
Rules vary by society. We recommend informing your committee; invisible grills are usually approved more easily than box grills because they do not alter the facade.
