Invisible Grill Price per Sq Ft: What It Costs and What Changes the Quote

Terrace protected by invisible grills at night

Invisible grills are almost always priced per square foot of the opening you want to cover. That makes estimating simple — measure the width and height, multiply, and you have the area. But two quotes for the same balcony can still be far apart, because the rate per square foot depends on several choices that are not always visible in the price.

This guide explains how to calculate your area, what pushes the rate up or down, and how to compare quotes so you are paying for the right grill — not just the lowest number.

How to calculate the area

Measure the opening, not the whole wall. For a balcony, measure the width of the open side and the height from the top of the railing (or floor) to the ceiling slab. Then multiply.

Example opening Width × height Area
Standard balcony 10 ft × 6 ft 60 sq ft
Living-room balcony 14 ft × 7 ft 98 sq ft
Bedroom window 5 ft × 4 ft 20 sq ft
L-shaped balcony (10 + 6) ft × 7 ft 112 sq ft

Add each side of an L-shaped or wrap-around balcony separately. Your installer will re-measure on site, but this gives you a reliable starting point.

What changes the rate per square foot

1. Steel grade

This is the biggest hidden difference. 316 marine-grade stainless steel costs more than lower grades, but it is the grade made to resist rust in humid and coastal cities. A cheaper grade can look identical on day one and show rust stains a few monsoons later.

2. Cable diameter and rating

Thicker or higher-rated cable costs more. Ask for the diameter and the load rating in writing. GaaRadha’s standard is 2 mm 316 stainless steel cable rated up to 400 kg.

3. Cable spacing

Closer spacing means more cables in the same area. A 2″ grill uses roughly twice as many cables as a 4″ grill, so it costs more — but it is the safer choice for toddlers.

4. Orientation

Vertical and horizontal installations use different track layouts. Horizontal runs on staircases and voids often need more fixing points.

5. Floor height and access

High floors, outward-facing balconies and difficult access can require extra safety equipment and time.

6. Fixing and tracks

Anchoring into the slab and parapet, working around glass railings and colour-matching the aluminium tracks all affect the job.

7. Size of the job

Larger areas — several balconies, a whole flat or a housing-society order — usually bring the per-square-foot rate down.

Indicative market prices

As of October 2026, most online listings for stainless steel invisible grills in India fall roughly between ₹100 and ₹250 per sq ft, depending on grade, cable thickness, city and whether installation is included. Treat this as a rough guide only — it is not a GaaRadha price list, and the only reliable number for your home is a quote after a site measurement.

Watch out: a rate far below the market often means a lower steel grade, thinner cable, wider spacing or installation charged separately. Always compare like with like.

How to compare quotes

  1. Check that each quote uses the same measured area.
  2. Confirm the steel grade (ask for 316) and cable diameter.
  3. Compare the spacing — a 4″ quote is not comparable to a 2″ quote.
  4. Check whether installation, tracks and fittings are included.
  5. Ask what happens if a cable needs re-tensioning later.

Invisible grill vs box grill: the long-term cost

An MS box grill can look cheaper upfront, but it needs repainting and rust treatment every few years, and it blocks light and the view for as long as it is there. A 316 stainless steel invisible grill needs no painting at all. Over the life of the flat, the gap in cost is usually much smaller than the first quote suggests. Our invisible grill vs box grill guide compares the two in detail.
